James Hunter Blair Bursary Fund

You will recall that this Fund was set
up by subscription as a fitting memorial to James. The objectives of the
fund were to support local students studying at the RSAMD.
The administration of the fund was left
entirely to the RSAMD. The only request being that they let us have a
report from time to time. I now have the first report.
The RSAMD have decided to award one
£1,000 scholarship per year from the fund. Generally, this will go to a
post-graduate student as most undergraduates get their fees paid.
Last year’s recipient was Marie-Claire
Breen from Saltcoats. She is a first year postgraduate specialising in
Music Performance. She is currently understudying Despina in the RSAMD’s
production of Cosi fan Tutte.
I gather this year’s scholarships are
about to be awarded and I will endeavour to update you when we know the
recipient.
