January 2004
We have been busy shooting all has gone very well,
unlike the salmon fishing which unfortunately was not so good.
The
unremitting dry weather in the summer meant that there were very few
good fishing days during the whole season. However the salmon have
since come up the river and there is plenty of breeding stock. We
hope for much better things next year.
The Approach Loch fished well and a new
Fishing Hut has nearly been completed there.
The renewal of the
Stables roof is finished. Wauchope Cottage is being turned from
our least commodious holiday cottage to our best one, with the addition,
upstairs, of three bedrooms, a bathroom and a TV room. All
is to be completed in time for the Troon Golf Open in July 2004.
A
new carpet has been laid in the Castle dining room an exact copy of
the old one made for us by Wilton, in about 1900.
We had two Carol
performances before Christmas which raised £1900 for research into
Diabetes another Concert raised £4000 for a Childrens Hospice.
An entertainment was held to celebrate the centenary of the NACF. There
have been two Weddings since.
On Monday, 15th December we all flew to
Dublin for a most enjoyable day out.
