One of the finest Regency castles in Scotland, Blairquhan Castle was built for Sir David Hunter Blair, 3rd Baronet in 1821 - 1824 on the site of a previous castle dating back to 1346. It was designed by the famous Scottish architect William Burn.

Blairquhan Castle is the
current family home of Sir Patrick (9th Bart.) and Lady Hunter Blair
and their five children.
A lot of the original furnishings bought for the Castle are still here, including the blankets with '1824' woven into them. However, the place has been discreetly modernised to provide very comfortable living. |
There is a unique
collection of pictures, including a rare David Allan conversation piece
of the first Baronet and Lady Hunter Blair with a family of nine (five
more children were born later), a family museum and a gallery of
paintings. The Castle itself is available for exclusive rental for: Such parties have the place entirely to themselves to use as they wish. Blairquhan Castle is set at the centre of a 2000 acre Estate of woodlands and countryside and an idyllic Park of about 500 acres laid out from 1800 onwards.
